Software Development and
Documentation
The Quill Consultancy can provide a range of
consulting services that draw on the technical skill and in-depth
knowledge of staff over a wide range of software products. Consulting
tasks have involved writing macros in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word,
setting up business accounts in MYOB, development of templates in Excel
and Word, and the development of a range of Microsoft Access and SQL
Server databases.
Recent tasks have included the development of Word templates for the Treasury section of the
Hydro-Electric Corporation and for loan contracts used by the former Trust
Bank; the development of Access databases for the Department of Transport
(to manage their custom number plate records), for the HEC (to calculate
and report on remuneration packages and FBT calculations for their senior
staff), for Pasminco Rosebery (to store details of core sampling), and for
Tascorp (to handle their asset register).
We see our consulting activities as providing valuable insights into the operations of our
clients. Such experience enhances the quality of the training we provide
and enables us to relate readily to the actual experiences of seminar
participants.
We can provide user-friendly documentation for our own software applications and for
those created by other software developers.
Recent projects have included preparation of training material for the Office of Parliamentary
Counsel’s (Department of Premier and Cabinet) EnAct application (for
drafting state legislation) and the Works & Assets Scheduling and
Programming System (WASP) for Aurora, Transend Networks and South West
Power (Queensland).
Help Desk Support
As well as providing post-training telephone support to seminar participants as a standard
service, the company is expanding its help desk services to support a
number of local and interstate corporate clients through both fee-per-call
and fixed-price contracts.
Personnel with extensive knowledge of the products we support operate our help desk on a
full-time basis. A 1800 Freecall number is available where appropriate.
Major clients include Norske Skog, the Department of Education, Pasminco Hobart, Department of
Transport, Forestry Tasmania, and Tasmania Police.
Internet/Intranet Development
The Quill Consultancy has responded to developments in the area of the Internet and extended its
services to include training in a range of Internet-related products, and
development of web pages and database-driven web sites for a number of
clients.
Recent clients include the Department of Justice, CRS Australia, NEMMCO,
Department of Education and the RMIT University.
