Keep text within the boundaries of your AutoShape in PowerPoint 97/2000/2002 (Introduction)

If your AutoShape isn't formatted correctly, your text may flow over the edges and distract from the overall design of your slide.

  • To keep the text within an AutoShape, right-click on the AutoShape and select Format AutoShape.

  • Select the Text Box tab.

  • Select the Word Wrap Text In AutoShape and Resize AutoShape To Fit Text.

  • Now your text will use the AutoShape boundaries as margins until the shape is filled.

  • It will also force the AutoShape's size to increase if necessary to accommodate all of the text.

  • You can still use the AutoShape's editing handles to further refine the size and shape of the AutoShape.

Selecting Small Objects (Introduction)

Hit the ESCAPE key to insure that nothing is current selected, then repeatedly hit the TAB key, which will toggle you through a selection of all of the objects on a slide. This is useful for selecting very small objects, or objects that are covered up by other larger objects.

Preview Slide Show Effects (Introduction)

While editing a presentation, hold down the CTRL key while clicking the slide show view button; this will open a tiny preview window showing that slide in slide show mode.
