The Quill Consultancy has recently been involved in this exciting project
which has resulted in a readily accessible single-entry web site for
dealing with Tasmanian Local Government bodies.
The Quill was part of a consortium led by Dytech Solutions and including Crank Media, which was successful in winning the tender to produce the CouncilConnect site. This development was administered by the Local Government Association of Tasmania and supported through the Networking the Nation Program of the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts. Dytech did the technical development of the site, Crank did the interface design work and we developed the on-line help and delivered a training program for Council administrators/users prior to the successful public launch of the site. Quill staff member Dee Webb was responsible for our contribution to the project which was well received by the client and by council staff. The training materials provided to course participants were very comprehensive and should provide useful support for council staff as they use the site to manage content and publish council information. The context-sensitive on-line help was developed using RoboHELP Version 4.1. Well done Dee! Not only does the site provide a single "portal" for a range of council services (including dog registration, rates balances, environmental issues, payments, tender and job information, community information) but it also provides associated information and links to relevant State and Federal government agencies and programs as well as acting as a jump-off point for all council web sites. We believe, as the services and resources that are available grow with the on-going development of the site, and as councils move increasingly to this form of service delivery, that this will become an essential URL for any dealings you may have with your council. We would encourage you to check out CouncilConnect if you have not already done so. |
