Advanced Novell Network Management: NetWare 6 (Course 3005) provides students with advanced management and troubleshooting knowledge pertaining to a NetWare 6 network and its components using the web services, tools and utilities that ship with NetWare 6.

Audience:

You should have some experience with networking, not necessarily with NetWare.

  • Adding, editing, deleting Objects in a directory

  • Assigning rights and managing user information in a directory

  • Managing traditional volumes and network storage

  • Managing email and Instant Messaging Services on a network

  • Managing and distributing workstation applications

  • Managing Enterprise user desktops

  • Managing printers and troubleshooting printers

  • Experience with the following NetWare 6 networking tasks gained either through job experience or attendance of:

    • Foundations of Novell Networking (Course 3001)

    • Novell Network Management (Course 3004):

  • Troubleshooting basic NetWare 6 and Novell Client problems

  • Building a TCP/IP Network using NetWare 6

  • Managing and optimizing NetWare 6 Servers

  • Implementing and troubleshooting external security measures

  • Managing eDirectory upgrades, object moves and schema extensions

  • Managing and troubleshooting Novell Licensing Services

  • Setting UP and configuring NSS

  • Adding a NetWare 6 Server to an eDirectory tree

  • Course Objectives:

    Advanced Novell Network Management: NetWare 6(Course 3005) focuses on teaching students 4 key areas of network management using NetWare 6:

      1. Upgrading and managing NetWare 6 in a blended network

      2. Advanced network storage management

      3. High Availability services with Novell Cluster Services

      4. Finding internal security breaches with Novell Advanced Audit Service

    Course Prerequisites

    Novell recommends the following:

  • A+ Knowledge (highly recommended)

  • Network + knowledge or Novell's Fundamentals of Networking (Course 3003)

  • Foundations of Novell Networking (Course 3001)

  • Novell Network Management (Course 3004)

  • or Equivalent experience


    Desktop Management with ZENworks for Desktops 4
    (Course 3006)

    Desktop Management with ZENworks for Desktops 4 (Course 3006) is designed for those who have little or no experience with the ZENworks product family. Students will learn the new features of ZENworks for Desktops 4 and how these features allow easy management of policies, applications, workstations and inventory. As part of the classroom instruction, students will work with multiple lab exercises to help them practically apply course concepts.

    Audience:

    The entry profile of a student for Course 3006 consists of the following:

  • Semi-experienced with networking, although not necessarily experienced with NetWare. Specifically,

  • Networking hardware

  • The OSI model

  • Topologies

  • Conceptual knowledge of different protocols including TCP/IP

  • Specific job experience:

  • o Help Desk administrator with approximately 6 months experience

  • o Network administrator

  • Other common titles for this level of network administrator are floor technician and back line support person.
  • In a large enterprise organization, this network administrator is the next level beyond the Help Desk administrator. It is the person who receives the first work orders from the Help Desk.

  • Prepare for and install ZENworks for Desktops 4

  • Use ZENworks for Desktops to Manage Policies

  • Course Prerequisites

    We suggest the following prerequisite knowledge:

  • A+ knowledge (or Novell Course 1105 and 1106)

  • Network+ knowledge (or Novell Course 1400 or 3003)

  • Foundations of Novell Networking (Course 3001)

  • Or equivalent experience

  • In addition, students should be in the process of obtaining the CNE certification or have equivalent experience—specifically:

  • Desktop administration

  • Thin-client administration

  • Web administration


  • Integrating Novell eDirectory and Active Directory

    In this course students learn the fundamentals of Windows 2000 networking and how to integrate Active Directory with an eDirectory network.

    Audience:

    This course is for Certified Novell Engineers (CNE) and Certified Directory Engineer(CDE) candidates who need the knowledge and skills to integrate Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 2000 Advanced Servers, and Microsoft Active Directory with an eDirectory network.
